S & H PACKING & SALES COMPANY, INC. is a third generation family business that was founded in 1944 by Stephen T. Horwath.  The company began in Phoenix, AZ as a truck farm serving the mining camps of central Arizona.  The need for a wider variety of fresh produce items encouraged the company to travel throughout the southwest for supplies.  Produce distribution systems and refrigerated transport during those years were in their infancy and there was always a reason to travel to the Los Angeles Produce Terminal either to purchase or to sell.  The family eventually moved to the Los Angeles area and made it their center of operations. Produce was brought in from the country and put into condition for sale and distribution throughout the Los Angeles metropolitan area and the southwest.  The primary focus of the company was and continues to be the production and wholesale distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables, principally tomatoes.  We are growers, packers, distributors and sales agents.

S & H PACKING COMPANY was established in 1954 first as a winter supplier of tomatoes for the Los Angeles repack operation and then as an importer and distributor for Mexican fresh produce.  The company has represented Mexican growers as their sales agent and distributor throughout the United States and Canada since that time.  S & H Packing has provided them access to those markets as well as procuring for them the latest technological inputs necessary for increased production and efficiency.  The company has ongoing relationships and growing ventures throughout the Mexican Republic.
